Default stock 10 bolt and 4.10s

Got a smoking deal on some 4.10s and rebuild kit this week..... I have been searching and some of the posts got me scared. I have 78k on the car and it might hit the strip once to get some times. Meaning I do not beat on her on a regular basis. Not daily driven also...... That being said, what is your opinion on the longevity of the stock 10 bolt?

T56 also

Thanks

not really worried about drag strip time..... not going to see that at all probably. So if I just go with any tire as long as it is not a drag radial, I should have a longer lasting 10 bolt??? The car is really a cruiser and I really only give it spirited bouts while on the roll. Very seldom get down on it from a stand still (still have visions of my stock clutch taking a dump on me).

Based on the info above (thanks guys) I think I should be alright

Wheel hop is worse than anything for the stock 10-bolts. I put 4.10s in ours and ran easy mid-12s on street tires.

I know alot of people here with 10 bolts on 4.10s that do alot of racing and they still holding on M6s. Once you put sticky tires and start doing alot of dig racing its a big worry.

Put money into a 9inch and call it a day. I use to be like you until I broke my 10bolt 3x!! While it does depend on the driver and the abuse the car has been through those 10bolts are junk when it comes to any kind of racing in my opinion. I broke first one on the street no track or slicks. Rebuild and it happened again. 3rd time 5th pass at the track on street tires and and I snapped the axels again!! Running a Moser 9inch now and I have been fine since. Its a good investment if you are racing the car trust me on this. Save your money and do it right. I through alot of money away because of gm's weak
10bolt.
