Default Posi Unit question

Hey guys, Im pretty sure my rear posi unit went out in my car. It pops and jumps and just doesn't act right. Its a 4 channel abs with tcs, can Is there a specific unit I have to buy for it or will any 10 bolt 7.5 unit work in it?

a 2000 would have had a Torsen posi(99-02),98 and earlier would have had Auburn.
you really need to supply more info !!!
M6 or A4 ???
M6 3.42 would have a 3 series carrier/posi.
A4 2.73 would be a 2 series carrier/posi,A4 3.23 would be a 3 series carrier/posi.

Yes, in general any 7.5 unit will work. However, you need to know the series you have so you can buy/get the right one to match your gearset.

So you're looking for a 3 series.

If you don't plan on abusing the car too much where it get to the point of not worthy of investing more into the 10 bolt as a whole, then you may consider spending the cash to get into a good unit like the Eaton clutch type. Very good diff unit and is rebuildable if need be. With the 4ch abs system the swap out will be pretty easy.
