Yeah yeah, I know, but 10-bolt build behind an A4

Horsepower=Good, after all that's why we're all here. Horsepower through a puny rear with c-clip axles is a disaster waiting to happen. Heaven help you if you snap a axle 60' out.
Some may find it funny that I stepped up to a S60 with a Hotcam LT1 but I'm not taking any chances. I don't regret spending the money for a second.

To the op, the drama queens are trying to rattle your thought's.
With your setup, a freshened up 10 bolt will be just fine.

Jake, I have been a best of 1.52 60ft on my 10 bolt. Now this was with stock 3.23 gears which may help longevity of the rear. Hell, I don't even have one of those fancy covers on it. My 10 bolt is completely stock and has about 20-25 1.6-1.7 passes on it and at least 10 1.5X passes on it. I couldn't tell you how long it will last for or even if it's making noise at this point (car is too loud) but I do know it is still going.

No, no reason not to get one. Even if I have him source out the 10 bolt for the axle tubes and the 8.8, then have him do all the work, and then ship it to me 100% ready to bolt in, I'm going to be under $1,400, which beats the price of any aftermarket rear on the market by a bunch. If I had a lot of money and didn't have to watch every dime I spend, I'd opt for a S60, 12 bolt, or 9".

Not to offend anyone but there is way more involved than HP numbers to finding the limits of a parts. There is some truth to HP being a killer but it isn't the only reason parts will fail.
Also C-Clip eliminators were brought up and I do not recommend them for heavy street use as they have a tendency to leak over time. The proper housing end is no more difficult to put in place than C-Clip eliminators and a much better option today.
