Stock aluminum drive shaft
My steel shaft that came with the 8.8 is vibrating. I've heard because it is the small diameter and is not using the original yoke that has the damper on it. So I threw the stock aluminum drive shaft in and since the vibration is gone, great.
Problem is, I know I'll have to baby it at the track. No man launches. So, from bone stock on radials 6 speed 3.42s to 8.8 swap 4.30s on ET streets with suspension and sub frames, I won't know the best results but I'll report back after the track to report if I broke the stock DS.

I bet it holds better than you think. If you decide to go all out, you could do a carbon fiber DS. Very strong and light so no vibes. If it breaks, it'll become a high speed broom and clean your undercarriage.

Chrome Moly is great stuff and very strong - but still just a higher grade of steel, so it's heavier than aluminum, and therefore still more prone to vibrations.
There are some other guys on here who are running much stronger builds than I am and still using aluminum for their drive shaft.
