Default 3.42 to 3.73 Autocross only (or maybe RR)

I would like opinions of going from 3.42 to 3.73 (or maybe 3.90) ONLY for autocross. Mainly, how much better is a launch? Do you find yourself shifting to 3rd a lot more - I assume you would, but I've only ever been to 3rd gear at AX a handful of times in my 15 years. Does it seem like you were able to shave tenths off from previously having 3.42 overall?

2001 M6 stock motor, see sig for mods

I've read a lot of the threads already, but many focus on 1/4 times and/or a4. Road course experience is OK, but I don't do HDPE so even that might not be relevant unless you do very short/tight courses.

Thanks.

I did the switch and use the car only for RR/AX. I kind of regret it now. On some tracks, I start to run out of gear in 4th, and shifting to 5th is worthless so I end up tagging the limiter a lot more. For autocross, I think 3:42 is the best. Second gear will cover you for any course. You don't want to have to shift to 3rd, it just wastes time.

Also keep in mind changing ratio automatically bumps you to CP.
