Default thick gears or not?

My GF just bought me some 3:73's for my Camaro and I currently have 2:73's. I know that you can get thick gears so you don't have to change the carrier. my question is, do I have thick gears or not? I called O'reilly's and they had no f'ing clue. They are motive gears P# GM7.5-373. Does motive even make thick gears for 3:73? Thanks.

I sent you an Email. The thick gears would have an "X" at the end of the part number.

As far as I know Motive does not make a 2 series or "thick" ring gear set. If you want to get a 3:73 ratio for your rear end you'll need to get a ring and pinion from Strange PN 23-875373-X. A number of the sponsors here should stock them.

Motive does make a thick gear, but we may be out of them right now. One of our suppliers may have one on the shelf though.

You could do like I'm doing and go with a 3-series carrier. You're 3.73 gears will work with it.

That would be the best thing to do. A thick ring gear can be pretty heavy, and that is rotating mass.

Yeah, I sent him an Email about that. These rears have a hard enough time holding together. Add a spacer and longer bolts and you can be asking for trouble. They are okay for low power stuff though.
