Default Diff. gasket?

Fixing to change rear diff fluid in my 2000 Camaro SS that has the factory auburn diff with the aluminum cover. My question is do I need to use a gasket or silicon to seal it up? Also if I need to use the gasket do I need to use silicon with the gasket to seal it?

You can just use a gasket but I used both. Try Permatex Copper Silicone along with your gasket. That's what I did and it hasn't leaked.
