Default Help Identifying this Posi

The Posi in my '96 SS quit working, so I decided to investigate. I'm new to differentials, and I have only seen posi's with clutch packs in them, so can someone tell me what i'm looking at??

the back side has 3 springs. Is this a factory unit?

I had the Pin half way out so i could get the axles out and the posi started working again, so i am not sure what's going on there.

Any help is appreciated,

thanks

paul

That unit is an Auburn and instead of having clutches it uses cones that were out. That unit is nonserviceable unless you send it to Auburn and have them rebuild it.

That is definately a stock Auburn Posi unit. Thats what is came with from the factory. The cones are worn out and the unit can only be serviced by Auburn. Just like Scott said.
