Lockup characteristics of PYE 4000
Is it true that this converter only locks up under a targeted torque load in non-overdrive gears?
When my switch is turned on, it only locks up fourth, at least that is the only gear I can see and hear a significant drop in RPM, 400-500.

Make sure your manual switch is setup properly. The 4L70 will lock in fourth automatically. If you are not getting lockup in 3rd you have a problem with your switch. Check the power lead to the switch and make sure you use 3rd gear lockup at the track only.
