from 273gears to 342 or 410's with MS3
So my car is at the speed shop right now having MS3 cam and tci 3500 Stall put in right now I have 273 gear trying to decide weather to go to 342 or 410gears but after reading the first post on here Im kind of confused, what would be better or am I only gonna gain .1 in the 1/4 like the post says but I' assuming tht info is with stock engines I've had 410's in an A4 before but it had a stock converter and cam it was nice but they also broke
I have heard the 410's are very weak in a 10 bolt compared to 273 or even 342's...lets here some opinions from some ppl with personal experience on this or expert knowledge.
(And getting a 12 Bolt is out of the ? for this year). I also have a girdle to go on if it helps any. Thanks

I just put some 3.42s in my uncle's lt1 and the difference is night and day going from a 2.73. However, I rode in my friends 01 WS6 Trans Am last week and he has a 3800 stall and 3.73s. That thing is a beast. I would recommend the 3.73s if milage is no concern, but 3.42s are the best all around gear for an auto in my opinion. I don't think the 4.10s would hold up too long to a magic stick cam and a stall.

I have 3.23 gears with the Magic Stick and a 3500 stall. I am going with 3.73s to try and keep the engine in its powerband. I also run 28" tall M/T slicks at the track. I guess with a 26" tall tire would better suit the 3.42s.

If your staying N/A and want some killer numbers, your going to need gear and converter. N/A with 3.42s it is going to be hard to get the car out of the hole good, it would also really like a 4000+ stall but I think your 3500 stall will do the job. I would personally start by trying to 3.73/26" gear and tire combo. I think that would give you some nice numbers and be very street friendly.

What was the power difference across the entire powerband?

I am having the cam installed right now, what the powerband on it usually? Also with that 1/8 time what would the expected 1/4 time be? I hope to be in the id 11's is this realistic?

Ive been spraying with my 4.10s and STOCK suspension and driveline with NO problems. Vigilante 3000 too. Sprayed outta the hole 10-12 times. Cuts 1.53 60's,runs 11.2@119! No problems whatsoever!
