Default TA Cover & Adj. Panhard Rod

BTW, I tried searching, but some of the old posts must have been deleted.

I'm contemplating getting 4.10s in my daily driver (100mi/day) and want a rear end girdle. However, I've heard that the TA girdle needs grinding to clear aftermarket adjustable panhard bars. Anyone have any input?

Also, my exhaust is pretty quiet, so should be okay for crusing with gears - but how is gas mileage affected? 1-2mpg? Thanks!

The girdle on a stock 10-bolt will have no clearance issues whatsoever, especially with an aftermarket panhard rod. Aftermarket rods are thinner in the middle (where it counts in this case) than the stock piece.

I think what you are reading pertains to girdles on a 12-bolt...some people have had issues with those girdles hitting the Upper Panhard Brace (not the panhard rod itself), and required notching of the brace.

Ah, thanks for the quick response Steve. Do you have gears? Any input on the cruising ability of 4.10s? All the calculators say around 2k rpm at 75mph, which is fine since I got the hooker cat-back. Just wondering about MPG....

I don't, unfortunately, but it is on the list of things to do. I probably should have mentioned that, as it is why I avoided that portion of the question. Just don't have any real world experience to back up the internet 'lore that I've read

I've got 4.10s and installed the TA Cover from Thunder Racing......I found a few leaks so I am in the process of using a gasket as opposed to just RED RTV Sealant. Good combo in my opinion but with 4.10s you better not launch hard or your 10 bolt will..
