Default new Strange rear leaking at e-brake..

Just got the break in miles on my rear tonight and noticed a little residue on my drivers side rim. After crawling under the car it's coming from the bracket that holds the e-brake mechanism. Anyone ever run into this problem and have a fix for it? Can I take that bracket out and permatex it?

Sounds like an axle seal.

Yeap it's axle seal.My strange 12 bolt gave problems since day one.Mine leaked from the drivers side axle and from the pinion. It's been rebuilt 2 times. The first time strange rebuilt it under warrenty. The second time I had to pay for it now I have a $4,300 12 bolt rear. Now it's good, but I had to pay for a new posi, ring and pinion all new bearings and seals. The only parts I could reuse was the axles. I suggest you send it back and get the dana S 60.

Not what I wanted to hear guys. Please tell me this rear isn't going to have to come back out? This sucks. It's friggin brand new and I basically just got it in. What a summer.

I was thinking tonight that if the axle seal was out wouldn't it leak at the backing plate? It's definitely leaking at that rubber boot that goes around the e-brake mechanism. There's no oil above that point. I've never looked inside a rear so I'm pretty clueless about it at the moment. I just assumed the axle seal would be on the end of the axle and make it leak where the backing plate bolts up.
nevermind,
I went out and looked at my old 10 bolt and see what you're talking about now. I guess strange quality isn't what I thought it was.

I'll call them monday. Thanks for your help. The rear has 250 miles on it so I was a little pissed to say the least. Just do a search on my nick and look at the fuel pump problems and **** I've had this year. Hasn't been a good year for mods and I'm sick of working on the car. Thanks again for your help.
