Auburn vs. Truetrac, which is better in a 10 bolt
Well as things would have it Murphys law strikes again. My Z's tranny (wasted 3rd+4th clutch packs) and rear end both crapped out the same night I ran my best time. Replaced the Tranny with a performabuilt level 2 this weekend, now I have to deal with the rear end. Know the posi is gone and am trying to decide between Auburn Pro series, Duragrip posi or the Truetrac. Need feedback from yall who have these in your car. Thinking of also replacing the axles, with Moser or something comparably strong. Please chime in on reccomendations for both posi and axles, prices and places to get them as cheap as possible.
Please, no 12 bolt sermons cause finances are not there for that right now due to the double whammy.

jits,
No actual 10 bolt 7.5 experience but
I installed a base auburn in my Grand National, always leaves 2 black strips and it isn't even a pro. In car 2 years now.
I broke a 12 bolt trutrac in my ta with less than 1500 miles and eaton does not stand behind their product.
I would call manufacturor of diffs ask about their warranty get it in writing, then decide.

from what Ive read a truetrac is jusst like a torsen. and Torsen is one of the best limited slips there is, an auburns clutch discs wear out and you need friction modifier in the rear for auburn as well.
for drag only get a spool, but for street use a truetrac is good in all applications.

I had heard some bad stuff about the Auburn from some people around my town, but my Auburn is doing good. Just make sure to put enough of the Friction modifier in it or it will make an awful noise. One reason I like it is because of their DEREX program.. you can get your Auburn replaced with a new on for 100 bucks.
Mine leaves 2 nice even black marks every time.

Yeh, I guess your right I didn't have to replace clutches just the whole tru-crap diff.
If I had of bought a auburn I could have gotten a new one through replacement program they have.
If I had of bought a diff with clutches I could have rebuilt it.
Instead I was lucky and bought a tru-crap and got to throw it in the garbage.
By the way a lot of guys say they don't break diffs and are running almost the same times with autos and tru-craps as I run with my 02ss 6sp stock 10 bolt. What does that tell you.
