Default TCI 3500

After hearing quite a few good things about TCI lately im considering one of the Super Street Fighters. I dont have any sort of shift kit or programmer. Will i be able to just put in the torque converter and a trans cooler and go? Will i be hitting the rev limiter before every shift, and will i fry my tranny within a few months ? Im buying the TCI because i can get it for 529 through summit, versus 700+ for the other brands. Being a soon to be broke college student will the TCI be a good converter, or will i always wish i would have went with a Vigi ? I dont want to turn it into an all out drag car, just a street car with some ***** behind it. Sorry for the long post but im just making sure im not getting ready to buy something that will either tear up my tranny or that i will replace for a better one in the future.

Hey 99 i was one of the first few guys on this board to run a tci street fighter 3000 stall.I got into some arguements and spatter with some people about my results for the money it cost, and quality but it was all cool no harm was done.I just sold my 2000 TA (check sig)and my 450.00 converter was worth 5 tenths in the 1/4 mile, best money i spent. No ses lights or problems drove it everyday and raced it all year.Talk about traction problems i just cant even imagine the superstreet fighter 3500 with out some slicks and suspension work.Ps i did use hpp3 to adjust shift points.Cant wwait to put it in my 99ta with 323 gears and see what it does. Good luck man either way.

My friend had a TCI converter in is race car and hated it. It had a stall rating of 4000 and he was lucky to get 2500 out of it. When he called TCI to see if they would losen it up they wanted to charge him $300 to do it. So personaly I would recomend not going with a TCI converter, or anything else for that matter.

I was wondering if 3500 would be to high ... so you say you had really good luck with the 3000 ? I wouldn't mind going to some nitto drag radials... just dont want to kill my stock rear end either. Overall how was the quality of the TCI. If on a scale from 1 to 10 a TCI was an 8 and a Vigi was like a 9, i would definitely go with the TCI because like i said, this isn't a race car im building... just a street car that i want to have some *****.

The shift kit will allow the tranny to shift faster thus reducing the slipping of the clutches in between gear changes. This will extend the life of the tranny. The best time to install a shift kit is when the tranny is out of the car (like for a converter change).

Kristi and I put a TCI 3000 in our 02' SS with 500 miles on it. We ran it a few weeks with no problems (shifting or hitting the rev limiter) we were waiting on the 3500 to come in so we just put it in for a couple weeks, but like Kevin said if it is going to be a one time swap best to do shift kit and cooler all at one time.We also put headers and y-pipe on and just those mods from one week to the next dropped us 8 tenths in the 1/8 mile.

BTW,Whats up K2 keeping the other Kevin straight

With a stock weight, stock geared, internally stock car, I went 11.82 with a 60ft time of 1.61 on drag radials. The performance of the TCI 3500 converter is not in question.

Drivability is nice and clutch lockup is absolutely perfect. No complaints here.

I just ordered a TCI 3500 from Trevor @ Texas Speed and peformance, good guy and great customer service.

Cant wait to get it installed. I have 99Z w/2.73's, and Nitto 245/50/16's out back on stock rims. Im pretty sure im gonna run into some serious problems with traction. My goal is to shoot for a 11 second all bolt on pass, minus the ls6 intake. Then I have a 150 shot to add into the mix. Didnt want to go really small on the verter for the spray and not too big for having all motor. Keep it somewhat mild mannered, and this seems like the verter for the job.

Keep you guys posted.

With the 3500 and nittos on a good track prep you can get it to hook,we went some 7.80's 1/8 miles on nittos and this converter.

Your rear should be fine but there are no guarantees. I'm not too worried about mine.
