Talking M6 + Spool + Street = Fun!!!

I finished swapping out my Aluminum case with a broken Tru Trac and 31 spline axles for a Nodular case with a Spool and 35 spline in my 9" this weekend and my car feels 100% better. I also swapped out the Moser 1/2" studs for ARPs. I had some doubts about going with a spool on the street but, now that I've had the chance to put some miles on the new rear I'm very pleased with my decision. I can barely notice that the spool is in the car when driving around town. In fact the only time I notice it is when I'm turning at very low speeds or in parking lots. Plus now I know I can take my car to the track and beat the **** out of it without worrying about breaking anything again.

Big Thanks to Bob at EPP and everyone else on Tech that helped me with my new setup.

I'm glad to see you got it done, and that you're happy with it! Bob

Trutracs arent all that and a bag of chips, they just happen to be one of the stronger posi units. The only thing better is a locker or a spool, Id choose the spool, Im kinda biased though....

Yeah, I broke it at the track launching at 4800 rpms. The housing was cracked and the helical gears were all messed up. I wish I would have taken some pics of it before I scrapped it.

You still liking the spool? Have you had a chance to drive it in the rain. Im thinking about going spool now that my tru trac is popping and clunking from some wheel hop I had at the track. How often do you drive it?

Mine is not a DD but I do like to take it on trips where I could get caught in the rain and thats what scares me.

Yeah I think my trutrac let go on me this weekend. I havent had a chance to pull it apart yet but its clunking at low speed and making some bad noises back there. And it never even saw any track time yet.

Ive been looking into a 12 bolt or 9in with a spool.

I love my spool... But I can't drive it too much cause I would be eating through tires like no other...

When it rains out... Its a blast. Especially when an AWD Ricer is behind you, riding your ***, thinking its funny... And then you goose it some, kick the *** end out going about 65 or so. He thinks you can't drive and backs way off. ha ha ha
