Seems sluggish down low
200 miles so far and did a 1-2-3-4 today at WOT. Was surprised by the below 4k lack of pull but freight trains up high. Maybe just tight, I'll give it at least 500 miles before wailing to hard or this needs driven different then our old 2000 Z28.

I recently drove a new 2011 5.0 mustang, wasn't very impressed with the low or mid-range power at all. It was plenty smooth and sounded great, just didn't set you in the seat at all. All the power in those new 5.0's is on the top end, hence the 7K redline. For street driving I prefer to have more low end and mid range power though.

Have you read about the fuse pull? #5 & #20 overnight to offest possible low octane gas from the factory?
Apparently, the few gallons of 87 from the factory put the car in the low octane table..
Won't automatically reset. Even if you used 93 on the first fill up, the computer STAYS in low octane table until its reset manually..
Pull #5 & #20 let sit overnight, insert them, & you'll be in the high octane table.
Should see a big difference in performance..

Just had to loosen up and learn to slip the clutch at the track. Runs easy high 12's at at or over 111. Just added long tubes/off road pipes and getting tuned in the spring. Love the car.

The fuse pull will work with the LS3 also, if you have had low octane gas in the tank. I found that after about a few thousand miles and several oil changes the LS3 really woke up. For low end torque I can strongly recommend 4.10's. The car is a whole new animal after that. Headers also, but then you are hooked on mods.

id do the fuse pull like others have mentioned with a fresh tank of 91/93 octane with no ethanol if you can find a station that sells it. it also takes about 1500-2000 miles for these cars to start really running good. i know, mine did the same thing

Did the fuse pull a while back and really felt no difference. I'm about 900 miles now and dumped the break in oil at 500 miles. At 300 miles it ran a string of 13 teens at 109-110 and at 600 miles with 3500 and a clutch slip to keep the RPM up I went 13.02/12.86 and then 12.75, MPH was 110.9-111.3.

I know what he is talking about though, if you ride in a 4th gen and then get in a 5th gen.... it just seems like the 5th gen lacks the "throw you in the back of the seat" pull of the 4th gen... its not slower by means you just don't get the "feel" that you get at WOT in a 4th gen...

Its not really slow, your talking about a rattle trap 4th gen vs a tight and refined 5th gen.
I had the same though when I had a 5th gen, and my buddies 600 all motor RWHP 5th gen seemed tame compared to my 425hp DD 4th gen I had at the same time..Its like riding in a honda at 100 and riding in a benz at 100...its all in your mind

On a new car, you might need a fuse pull if your dealer puts a tank of mid or low octane gas in you tank. The LS3 has a compression of about 10.7:1. Your car comes with Mobil 1 in the engine. You should change it after about 500-1000 miles after you break her in.
