new motortrend says.....LS2?!?!?!
the new motortrend says that they think that the new camaro is gunna have a 400 horse power work over ls2 What do u guys think???!?!?!? they also mention a later 500 horse power camaro

if that does go through wouldnt be suprised cause if they used the LS3 it would somewhat compete with the vette. They could also use the LS3 and rate it less than the vette like they did for the 4th gen. LS1's

any camaro that puts out 500hp will be probably 5-8k less than a z06 IMO, anyways I think it will either be a hybrid or atleast DOD, I think they will do the same as the mustang if there even will be a 500hp camaro...probably whatever engine they decide to use that will make around 400 for the z28 and ss, and maybe a special package for the 500 will just have a supercharger on it...

If they do a real, non hybrid V8 , it'll be the LS3, and will carry quite the price tag. If there is a "special" Camaro, say ala ZR1, then it may have the LS7 or LS9(I wouldn't bet on the LS9, beside, the 427 emblem looks right at home on the hood of a Camaro). Neither of the engine options for the Camaro will endanger the Corvette, as even the upperdeck version of the Camaro, if it happens as a LS7, will weigh 400-500lbs more than the base vette at 436HP. We've all seen what 500 HP in a 4000 lb car stock is like w/ the GT500 (12.5 second 1/4 mile upper average).Top speed may be severly limited in the base/hybrid models as well, ala the GTR (116MPH top speed for USA unless Nissan turns off the nanny for you).

Anyone remember the article about the flywheel hybrid system being tested on Chevrolet V8s....
Chevy has also said the car will get "...an engine unlike anything we've ever seen before..."
Think about it guys...

Seen the actions GM is taking so far, what makes you guys think it wont get the same Engine as the G8 tuned for 91? What is it, the l76?
LS3 or L76 has a better chance than the phased out LS2...
Keep in mind that this car will be out in 2010... The LS2 is phased out, the LS4 might be too... Hell, why wouldnt it have the the LSA?
IMO, it will be an LS3, LS4, or an LSA in that car... Maybe the LS9... Think about future engines, not current engines..

how long has it been since the prototype was released??? I've been waiting years for this car and it keeps getting pushed back...At this rate i'll be dead before i see one...I don't care what engine is in it, i just want to know when there is one available at a dealership in which i can purchase and drive...

AMEN to that. We need another great engine. +400 hp for the base V8 to be able to kill Mustangs, and a +500 hp to kill them Cobras and Shelbys. Like some of you say, a Ls7 Camaro wouldn't challenge the almighty Z06 because of the weigh, so why not a Ls7?
