ok another question. . . by boring the 5.3 to a 6.0 or even a 5.7 i read on abother forum it could cause issues and the block would need to be checked? i found a 5.3 shortblock with like 5k miles for $100. the truck had burnt and the heads MIGHT be ok but he doesnt know. what transmission is on them? with the transmission its $300.

Don't forget the 5.3 in the Impala SS. It's aluminum, and a little shorter overall. I'm not sure if it mates up with RWD transmissions, but I wouldn't think it'd be hard to get it to work.

5.3
I put a 5.3 out of a truck in my 98 TA...I put the ls1 intake and tb on it along with all the ls1 excessories..also headers and dual exhaust...That was it completely stock other then this...I ran it at HPT and ran a best of 13.70 and i have beat stock ls1 cars...So take it for what it is worth im happy with my 5.3. Also car has stock gears..and has never been tuned.
