Default Anyone ever damage their O2 sensors by going in a deep puddle?

Well I got trapped last week on a main road and i couldnt avoid a huge puddle of water that was up to my door. I drove thru it and moments later the car started to run like pure ***. I checked the codes and it was the O2. These O2s were only a month old and that will be a quick $200 down the drain

Usually the O2 disruption is temporary when water is involved. I would wait a bit for them to dry up. Usually they bounce back. But if not, it should not cost $200. Denso O2s are about 50 apiece i think. I'm assuming its only your two rear O2s.

At any rate, yes it happens, and best of luck.

It's best to let the car sit until they're completely dry though. Running any electronics while they are wet will end them in a hurry.

^^^ is what happened to me. I drove through a big puddle earlier in the day then later that night I ran a 04 GT. During those three runs my 02's fouled out from being wet then fouled #7 plug so I raced and beat him badly all 3 times from a dig. Afterwords he gave a bs excuse something about his fuel pump. I told well I'm on 7 clinders and still won. His reaction was priceless. Back on topic if your 02's are only 2 months old shouldn't they be under warranty still.

I had a similar issue when it rains really hard, car bucks and simply wont perform. I unplugged all my O2 sensors and sealed the connectors with die-electric grease= Problem solved

True, warranty. But have you ever tried to take a cell phone back to the store after it fell into a big puddle. that Little pink dot doesn't lie; aka there is no warranty.

I wish I could get O2's for $50.00. I have LT headers and I run the C5 Corvette 02 sensors for the longer reach. Also here Napa/Pep Boys/Autozone the Bosch regular 02's for F-Bodies are $69.99 a piece. I just replaced the passenger side and car seems to be running OK... for now. I'm just going to use my C5 for the next couple of days even though i don't want to

What's the worst thing that can happen If your o2 sensor goes out and does it make a difference if the o2 is closer to the exhuast manifold?

Thats why o2's dont have a pink dot on them. Take them back, they should exchange them. Trust me, I work at the service department for chevy, the customer always gets there way. just dont tell them what happened.
