Default Our cars give the best bang for their buck

I was thinking the other day how much bang for the buck we get with our cars. For a very reasonable price, we can get a car with a bullet proof engine that would blow away many cars that are 2 times the amount of money!

Not to mention the aftermarket world is HUGE for LSx cars with prices that are hard to beat...

Does anyone agree with me? Are there any cars out there that you guys think give a better deal for performance and money?

I agree with you dude. I can't think of anything better performance-wise for the money than the ls1 f-body, unless you bring bikes into the equation, of course.

That is true for sure. I just purchased my first f body car and I'm just amazed at how
much power you can get for the money.

Cheap absolutely.

performance and bullet proof?

Well not the one I have at least.

huge aftermarket? Absolutely.

These cars have a "cool factor" too it seems.. I get compliments on my car all the time, even though it's a heap. Even after I give them a demo of the laundry list they still love the car.

and I guess.. I do too.. or I would have gotten rid of it by now.

I was looking at vettes the other day.. C5s.. it's amazing to me.. my 2000 camaro, very rough shape.. $4500, bald tires, several broken fenders, broken and yellowed headlights, broken console, blown speakers broken seats.. I could go on for a long time.

Find a C5 on ebay that's been in a wreck.. $8k. Good condition C5s? $10k..12..14.. 25 even.

Now I'm not discounting the vette AT ALL.. but.. the discrepancy in car vs the discrepancy in cost makes it no contest really. You can get more car for the same money out of an Fbody imo.

True. i love corvettes but for the extra money they cost, you could make your f body that much better.

and yes there are faster out there but for a price.

I don't know about the cars, but the LS series engine is easily the best bang for the buck on the planet. I am going mid 11s with an LS engine for 1/4 of the price it would have cost to build a Buick 455 to go this fast.

I agree with you man, these cars are beginning to take the Foxbody Mustang's place. Cheap to buy initially, cheap to mod, cheap to maintain. That said, I think I will always have an F-Body now that I have one and know what it's like, I fully understand the hype about them.

Wish I could have an LT1 WS6 to daily drive to go along with my SS, the only killer is insurance.

They are cheap now that they are older. For those of us who have had our cars for several years they aren't so cheap. I picked mine up for about 25000, and have since sunk at least 7000 into repairs and mods over the years. Not to mention about 100 bucks extra in insurance every month since then.

If you look at his sig clearly he either bought the car with mods or he got them free.

And I agree about our cars, the only other type of car I can think of that offers the same performance so cheaply is DSM's, although there just about impossible to find one that isn't hacked up

Yep, I think the 99/01 Cobra's and Mach 1's are pretty good for the money too, but they seemed to have held their value slightly better than the F-Body's did, at least from what I've seen.

But, pretty much all the cars that are faster than these or at least comparable performance wise are a much more expensive. 03/04 Cobra, 05/06 GTO, C5 Z's, M3's, EVO's, STi's, etc., etc.

I agree.. An fbody offers great performance for sure. The low end grunt on these cars along with a nice strong pull top end.

You can easily find a used fbody for cheap. Even been reading how these old 4th gens are keeping up and pulling against the newer gen camaros.

A 4th Gen w/ the same Bolt-on's in a Auto as the 5th Gen will beat it w/ no problem !!!!!
