Default Gen 4 Camaro with 6.2L L9H Swap

How many of us are out there?

2001 Camaro SS
6.2L L9H (379 cid)
Custom Cam
Headers
Dana 60 Rear w/ 4.10s

Just did the swap and I will be dynoing the setup this weekend.

Interested in knowing what others have done this setup? The L9H has the hollow stem valves, wondering if that will matter when compared to the L92 solid stems.

Dyno Day was cancelled this weekend...

I think I might have to get it dyno'd this week some time. I have 600+ miles on the engine now and it doesn't smoke at all, so I think I broke it in pretty good.

I put an l92 converted to ls3 specs in my 98 trans am a few years ago. Currently swapping in a 411 PCM and working 25 hours ot a week to save for a decent rear. G6x3 cam stepped headers and a list of other mods too long for this thread haha.

I dyno'd it today:

Found out I am only getting 95% throttle, need to grind down the throttle stop area a bit. Also, keep in mind this is through a Strange Dana 60 rear end with 4.10s.

428rwhp, 405rwtq

Old setup (LS1, G5X2 cam, LTs) VS new

It turns out that my stock LS1 MAF is being overflowed by the 6.2L cubes hunger for air... This explains the steep drop in the upper RPM range which means this baby has a lot more power in it.

My plan is to get the LS3/LS7 MAF with a custom made cold air intake system or the 102 lid from FastToys.

Anyone have opinions on which is better? does a large open filter pull more air compared to the air box setup?

What is the car currently making with that setup?

You might want to think about going with the LS7 MAF and getting it throughly tuned. My LS1 MAF can not measure the air needed for the 6.2L high RPM air flow.

Ok, I got the new MAF (TSP 100mm) and Fast Toys 104mm lid installed, fixed the throttle body issue and got it tuned last week again. I notice a HUGE difference above 4000 RPM and the kPa doesnt drop after 5200 rpm any longer. I went with a more aggressive tune at around 12.5-12.8 a/f at WOT and it really likes it. The guage now reads about 500 rpm slower than the engine rpm which is something I have to get used to until I get a shift light.

I want to dyno it again but its damn hot in Arizona right now... I am hoping to pick up another 20-30 rwhp and considerable torque.

Oh and I relocated the IAT sensor to the Fast Toys lid because that TSP MAF gets way too hot being located over the radiator hose/water pump. This made a huge difference. The picture below is before I relocated the IAT.

I will keep you posted on numbers.

wondering what the new numbers will be.. i too ran the stock MAF, ran good, but after the new MAF, tune and all it's pulling harder up top for sure. No numbers yet though.

I basically have the same setup and making similar power with an 85mm SLP MAF. Mine made 438/405 through the 10-bolt. I have not made a dyno run with the S60. I am interested to see what difference the bigger MAF and Lid makes. I have a Fast Toys lid but have not installed it yet.

New Dyno Numbers!
