Exhaust cut-outs
Hi, weigh in -do these have "Real World" Performance benefits or is it all about the loud exhaust note? Thanks in advance. I Googled but couldn't find any definitive answers.

Like said i would definetly recommend a cutout if you have to deal with smog or have the stock system. Alot of people have it dumped at the axle as did i when i had one this is a perfect spot for it.

I dynoed my 01 ws6 back to back one with cutout open and one with closed on the same dyno jet. Bone stock my car made 310/339. With nothing but a cutout open on the y pipe my car made 322/349 just to give you some real life dyno numbers.

My car feels slower doing WOT pulls with my cutout open lol. I doubt with my exhaust it'll make more then 5-10hp max over the magnaflow. Now with turbos theres crazy hp differences with an open cutout. Dont get me wrong at idle and WOT the open cutout sounds mean but driving around with a stalled auto its raspy and I have it like half way open.

with a good exhaust system it it minimal. What we have seen is this...12rwhp BUT car can be faster or slower with cut-outs open at the track. It appears that there is something interesting going on in the relationship between loss of low end torque, gain in top end hp, and density altitude. Most days it's about .06 quicker with the cutouts open, but when da is around 400 or lower it may be faster with them closed. Dunno why.
