Default 98 LS1 block limits?

Hey guys Ive got a 98 camaro with a pnp tb/maf, ls6 intake, hot cam, 241 heads, headers/cut out etc with 120k on it. It runs great but i wanna make it faster.

I was thinking new bearings, rod bolts-(possibly light weight rods), ported ls6 oil pump, BIG cam, 243 heads, valve springs, ls7 roller rockers, fast 102 intake etc etc...

But before i go and dump all this money into this motor what are the hp/rpm limits of this block?

Since you plan on pretty much redoing the entire motor including bottom end with rod bolts you shouldn't have any issues. As long as it gets adequate oil it'll be fine. The only significant difference between the 98 and 99+ blocks is the oil flow, as the 98s have 2 small holes for oil to flow whereas the 99+ has an open area. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I remember reading something like that in one of the ls books I used when I did my motor swap.

I too heard that oiling is a concern with the 98' blocks. I built a forged 400 rwhp 98' motor last year and installed a high pressure/high volume Melling oil pump and have had zero issues. I am planning a 200 shot for this summer. I hear that 200 shot is about the max with a 98' honed to 3.905. I would suggest Brian Tooley SLR lifters in place of the LS7 lifters. Very pleased with mine.
