Default Heres a crazy idea.

I have a 2006 chevy silverado 1500 with a 5.3 liter roughly 196,000 miles. I also have an 01 silverado 2500 duramax. The body on the dmax is starting to show its age very rapidly. Sooo my idea would be to take the Dmax and allison out of the 2500 and plop it in my 1500? Anyone heard of anything like this being done?? The only difference i could see would be the mounting brackets(both engine and trans) and maybe a custom driveshaft? Maybe a stupid idea maybe not Open to input of course?

You'll probably be better off asking this question on a truck forum.. I doubt a lot of guys over here are familiar with diesels..

But I see what you're saying, and if you have both trucks to swap parts with, I don't see why you couldn't make it work with a little custom work.

Please use www.performancetrucks.net for truck specific questions. Your same login and password from this site will work there too.
