Did I make a mistake? (V6, sorry.)

As far as LS-1's selling for $8K....I sold my 2 owner 1998 Z28 A4 with 115K highway miles back in 2009 for $3,000. The car looked like 55K miles with no paint issues, no interior stains, rips, or worn spots, and it ran quite nice. The only downside was a bit rattly in suspension and AC not working. That's one of the cars I wish I had back. I only sold the darn thing because at the time I had the stupid notion that all performance engines "die" by 125K miles. I put the last 93K miles on that car. It probably had another 50K-75K left in the engine. The dealer I sold it to put it up for sale at $3,850...which was probably still a great deal for someone....especially if they were just going to mod it anyways. It was 100% stock. Had I found LS1Tech before 2011, I'd still own that car.

I'm pretty sure I saw a thread/post here in the past 3 years where someone was altering their LS-1 with LT-1 body components because they liked the LT-1 features better.

I bought my '99 Z28 last summer for $2,400 with 190k miles. It runs great, no issues and there is no rust. Was just looking for a base hardtop A4 car to start a simple build off of and found it when I wasn't looking.
Somebody definitely got a deal with your old car it sounds like.
But, I couldn't care less, so I won't. I just think the LT1 cars were more honest than the front end refresh was. The older front end bits fit the rest of the car better, the Firebird much moreso than the Camaro, but I do like the Camaro LT1 style better as well.
And i'm very aware it's an opinion. It's just as worthless as yours. Look it up, sarcasm on the internet, it's a fact.

Good luck with it. They are pretty stout cars, and if you stay out of the throttle, it's pretty easy to get north of 25mpg all the damned time. My brother just picked up a rat trap 01 m5 v6 Camaro, so I guess I'll be getting back into them. I had an Arctic White 2000 V6 Firebird. Ran mid 11's with no issues for years with a cam/headers/spray!
