The 4th gen LS cars are 6th on the list but whats more interesting is they have the 93 z28 SS in 5th. Was there even such a thing? I thought 96 was the 1st year they brought back the SS?

The article has 2 fourth gen positions saying much the same thing. The 6th position probably should be the LT-1 (275 hp). And 5th should be the 4th gen LS-1 (305-345 hp as "factory" rated).

There was no 1993 Z28/SS, period. The picture in that article does not depict correct factory badging (Z28/SS was only referenced on the center console plate for the '96 cars, but never on the exterior for '96 or '97.)
Appears that the article is looking mostly at 0-60 times for the list, but that's a bit misleading since we all know where the stock LT1 vs. stock LS1 average quarter mile times land.
There were two different ratio M6s for '93, but only 1st and 3rd gear were actually different. Also, the more aggressive 1st gear M6s came standard with a 2.73 rear, but a 3.23 was optional. There was no 3.42 gear offered for '93.
LT4 vs. LS1 is a pretty close race, often coming down to the driver, though so few LT4 F-bodies were built that there isn't much data stock for stock. There is much more data in terms of the LT4 C4s vs. LS1 C5, and in this case it's also often a drivers race, though with a slight edge for the LS1 car.

Again, the LS1 has a slight edge in stock form, but often it's a drivers race.
