Default Jacking car question

How do you guys jack the car up (and put it on stands) without damaging your driveway?

It seems everytime I do that the weight of the car makes the wheels of the jack and the feet of the stands dig in a good half an inch or so into the pavement and it's ruining a perfectly good driveway.

I was thinking of putting wood blocks under the jack and stands which seems easy enough for the latter but the former I'm not so sure. Also how thick should they be as to not crack? Anyone have any experience with this or tips/tricks?

I've never had a problem like this, sounds like you have some soft pavement. Is it an asphalt driveway? I've only ever had cement to date, which doesn't behave this way in my experience. Even jacking up very heavy cars has never caused any more than scuff marks on the cement at most.

new , thin ,or hot asphalt can do this -combine those three and you got trouble....

a piece of plywood under the jack /stands should spread the load enough to minimize this
