Default Using 4x4 pcm + harness in 2wd truck questions

Hey folks, I have a 2004 Silverado roller I bought for dirt cheap, PO pulled drivetrain for his Chevelle project. Anyways, vin indicates it was a 4.8. I'm looking for an engine and harness to put back in. Problem is, around here the only ones I can find are 4x4. I thought the vss on the 4x4 was on the transfer case. Can I just run a 2wd 4l60e and disconnect the vss and tcase plug? Or do I need to do anything special? Thanks for the help.

You need the VSS for the PCM... the PCM's are the same 2wd and 4wd... harness is the same essentially except 4wd had more wiring but it can be removed from the harness with no issue

Default 2003 Escalade AWD to 2WD for LS Swap

I’m looking to put a 2003 6.0 Escalade into a 66 Cadillac and need a 2WD.

three videos later, I believe I need a 4l65e not 4l60e. Also what to do with the plugs from the transfer case will this setup (cruise control-proper shifting etc) work without them?

note: I’m taking everything out of the Escalade
steering wheel/column, interior /exterior wire harness, dual ac system, pedals etc. it’s a DeVille not an Eldorado!!’

Last swap was a 1964 C10 upgraded with a 2wd 911500(had to drill holes and mounted the steering gear box on the outside from a 1987) suburban gas tank- factory 91 a/c.

.

Three questions
so would I purchase an adapter for the 4l65e to connect the speedometer cable to keep the interior dash original?

Will I need to do anything to the PCM since all the Bells and Whistles would be gone stock for the 2003 Eacalade

how would I get cruise control if I went this route?

i have a complete donor car
