Just need to vent.. aarrg
crap i just needed to vent so hear me out, cuz i'm not happy with my current situation.
we'll do some background first.
good friend of mine has a 04 gto ls1 a4, always had a competition between cars since high skool, so we have always battled it out.
last year, i used to pull about a 1/2 - 1 car on him when we raced. he has an intake with functional ram air hood, and catback.
i was t/b, SLP loudmouth catback, k & n fipk II , maf ends...
this year i added
ls6 intake
edelbrock racing long tubes
ORY y pipe
hooker catback plus e-cutout
now we raced again, with my new mods, and he pulled me by a car.
wtf... fukin crap. not happy. my car runs good, idles good, etc...
i didn't think it felt much faster but i just thought it was just in my head. but this proves it, i am slower, yes slower, with all my new mods.
fukin ghey.
i'm gonna have my u/d pulley put on, put on the PP 85 intake/throttle body, stall converter and then have to get it out to someone to get it on a dyno and have it fully tuned, cuz something must be wrong.
i was hoping for a good summer, but so far, this sux. i'm not happy at all.
on top of all that, last year the gto was supercharged, and the kid beat the living **** outta it all summer long, then took the supercharger off and went back to the stock.
ghey ghey ghey
thanks for listening

i guess i should clarify a little.. when i would pull him by about a car, he was n/a... it was b4 the supercharger, he got it about mid summer...
my start was not the best, not at all, i spun alot actually... but he did somewhat too, it felt like he maybe had fender, maybe a bit more off the line, then he just pulled away...
when my car shifted into 3rd it felt like it really died, thats when he really pulled away... and thats when i used to really pull him...
edit - race was from a dead stop.
we were coming home from a local cruise night, he had his hood popped all night, i didn't see anything new

If you guys are friends, here is an idea to help you get more insight. Ask him if he is cool to a race, but this time you driving his car and him in yours. That should give you a good sense at least how his car feels, and if it was a driver issue instead of the car itself.

hhm, i might try that, he is really **** about his car tho, like he won't drive it on a rainy day type of ****.
i'm gonna meet up with him tomorrow, and hopefully get some races in from a roll, take the driver outta it. i would hope i'm not that bad of a driver that i under compensate for all my mods... yikes.

i never noticed it acting slow, but i never did WOT into 3rd gear for no reason... i was on the highway this same day, and i dropped it into 3rd on the highway, about 50-60ish, and went WOT, seemed completely sluggish, i was not impressed, so then i did the same thing, but leaving it in OD, and it seemed like a completely different car. FWIW i raced leaving it in OD today. prolly doesnt matter going from a slow roll or stop tho

If you dont know of anything else done to the car than what you have listed, you should have given him a good beating with what youve got. For almost a full bolt on fbody to lose to a gto w/ just an intake doesnt seem quite right.....I vote hes not tellin ya something or somethings not right w/ your car.

did you tune it after the headers and other mods? if not i am willing to bet that is your problem. my camaro felt like it crapped out on me after my header install until it was tuned.

You raced him when he had intake and catback, and pulled 1/2 car.
You added LT's, y, intake and changed to a different catback and he added a S/C... he pulled you by a car?
Correct me if I'm wrong.. it was a little confusing. If that's what happened you shouldn't be surprised. Yeah, those cars are heavier but s/c + bolt ons beats bolt ons only anyday.

I was reading earlier and the kid corrected the other guys on this too, the SC wasn't added during the race when his car seemed sluggish.
