Default Stupid Coinholder

Has anyone modified the little ashtray/coinholder thing behind the shifter on a Z28 M6? The sleeve of my jacket always pops it open and it's annoying as hell. Should I glue it down? Rip it off? What?

Yea I've done that a decent number of times shifting into 3rd. I haven't done it in a while. I've taken it off for a few runs at the track in the past.

I think I've seen some pictures of people sealing up the ash tray and cup holder with plastic and it was smooth and looked like it came that way. I have no idea how to do it but supposedly it's not that hard to do. I just don't know what materials you need.

Some people have fiberglassed over those holes, then painted the piece. That's a major PITA though.

I've never had this problem, but I guess if you never use it you could put a small amount of glue on it to hold it down.

Can't lose the jacket - this is Chicago and I like to keep my nips warm.

I like the velcro idea. I'll probably do that in the meantime while I think about a gauge or switch setup... maybe a 10-switch hydraulics setup.

Just kidding on the hydraulics part.

I never had that problem. I put the switch for my line lock in there. I love it there because I like a totally stock looking interior and didn't want a switch sticking out in the middle of nowhere. I think I could probably fit another switch in there if I ever go with an electric cutout and/or nitrous, as well.

Instead of velcro, maybe try a small magnet?
