Default 3800 misfire

car in a 96 rs and it has a misfire on cylinder 6 even though it has a new coil, spark plug wire and spark plug any ideas cause im out

ha. i have the exact same problem...im going to try to change plugs c if that helps...any advice on how to do it, cuase i know its tight

Make sure you use factory plugs - being waste spark, the whole ignition system is designed to have a very specific voltage and resistance and the polarity of the secondary ignition is sensitive to changes. Test the resistance of cylinder 6's injector as well.

To do a plug change with the log style exhaust manifold you gonna need to get certain ones from the bottom. I have a 2000 3.8 Camaro with stock tubular manifolds so I don't have that problem. Pre 2000 (I believe) had the log manifolds.

You're right FiredUpZ28, #3 and #6 come out from the bottom. Jack up the front of the car, put both sides on jackstands, and pull the front wheels. The only real way to get under there. And #6 is a HUGE pain, make sure you leave yourself plenty of time and have a few different sizes extensions and swivels. And be careful of the O2 sensors, they are right there in the way.

Whoever designed the exhaust manifolds for the 98 and 99 3.8L Camaro should be shot.
