Naw, just don't let it get red lining on ya and you'll be fine. Keep a good load on the tires and you're cool.

Uh ... yes it's bad for the entire drivetrain and will shorten the life of the car if done excessively.

if you like doing burnouts buy a line lock kit.... it'll be alot easier on your drivetrain (you wont be fighting against your rear brakes)

Agreed, but no matter what, it is not going to be healthy to put force to the rear wheels and keep the car in stationary...

Letting it free spin to fast and rapidly or hitting the rev limiter is much worse than a mid range rpm steady burnout.

Line locks would be good to keep the rear brakes from getting unnecessary wear.

Just don't bounce off the limiter and you're fine. Thousands of cars around the world every day do burnouts at tracks and on the streets, they're fine.

Hey:

Well it can't be doing any good for tire life either, rear brakes are cheap compared to some rear tires.

I think I should invest in a tire store near him, what do ya say about that, he is helping the economy grow a set of tires at a time. Keep up the good work.

i wouldnt recommend doing excessive burnouts, the rear ends are known for being hit or miss

neutral slams are way better for your drive train. I'd suggest that.

You are going to ruin your transmission and rear end. It's bad enough these 10 bolt rear ends are weak already.

I've done over 200 burnouts on my GTO. I used to bang it off the limiter in 3rd gear with the tires spinning 120mph for over 5 minutes. Nothing like a lease

yeah it is bad for your car if you do it all the time. Very bad actually. That extra stress put on the tires and rear end just moves all the way up the powertrain.

they will, believe me

i saw some idiot with an ls1 camaro at the drag strip do a neutral drop

he busted his driveshaft off and the back part of his transmission off

i say good for him, he tried to be cool and rev his engine up like the other cars not knowing that they were doing it in gear, or had a transbrake
