Mobil One clean 5000 is an API certified SL oil. It will protect your engine just fine as long as you follow the recomended service intervals. Run the recommended wieght 5w30 unless you do not have sufficient oil pressure.
The Motor Oil Evaluator- Fun link about picking oils.
There are a lot of varying openions on this site about oils. Just remember that none of them will come from engineers.

Real life experience with oils over a 20+ year period is more valuable and accurate than any engineers claims, by far.

Use Calstrol GTX 10w40 or 20w50. You're engine will love you.

Thats the bottom line. Change it every 3,000 and the most basic, cheap, regular non-synthetic oils will protect your engine as good as any synthetic oil will.
Problem with engineers is...most either work for an oil company or are paid by oil companies under the table to make bullshit claims so said oil company can sell their product to the misinformed public who just go by what they read.

You just let me know.
Castrol GTX is about as basic, cheap and regular as it gets 20w50 is what I use.
I support the use of synthetics for engines that can benefit from them. LSx enignes are the most basic of piston engines. They are nothing special at all. They're talked about by alot of people like they're exotics and they're not. Synthetic oils have their place, but it certainly isn't with these engines.
