Default Hesitation when warming up?

Hey folks...

I have had this issue for quite a while, but it seems to be getting a bit worse recently. When I start my car, the engine seems to be running on less than all eight cylinders. It will feel like it has a misfire until it warms up. The idle will sound a bit off and then it will suddenly "kick in" and idle normally after letting it idle for a bit. Well, normally for having a g5X3 cam & AFR head combo. lol If I try to just start it and take off, it will hesitate as if its missing unless I give it a substantial amount of throttle and then it will seem to "catch" and put you in your seat. If I let it warm up to full temp, the sound of the idle will change after a few minutes, and it will drive fine until I let it sit for a while and cool down. Then the issue returns. No SES light, and no codes since the last time I've checked. I'm probably going to change the plugs & wires this week and see if it clears up, but this issue has been around for two sets of plugs & wires. Any thoughts or opinions on this issue? Any help or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

2002 Camaro Z28 M6.

When you pull a plug out is there oil on the threads?

Sounds like leaking valve seals. After shutdown raw oil leaks down onto the spark plugs and htis them when they're frying hot. The oil gets gummed up on the electrodes of the spark plugs. Its takes a bit to burn that crap off the electrode when you start up each time.

Next tiem you do a cold start, hold the throttle at say 1,200-1,300 degrees as it warms up, don't move your foot at all just hold the same pedal input. If the rpm's slowly climb on its own, you most likely have bad valve seals.

You won't get SES lights or codes from that.

Only other thing it can be is a dirty MAF. The MAF is used when the engine is below 122*F, then the 02 sensors take over. So clean that thing as well.

Also, lift the lid and spray the **** out of the IAT sensor real quick too, with the MAF cleaner.

You may want to also check the coolant temperature sensor: http://www.wellsmfgcorp.com/pdf/Counterpoint2_2.pdf

Its in a thread that I started long ago when I had an idle issue. Someone either gave me a link to read or posted the write up and that info was in there.

I'll try to find it.
