Default how do I take off the handle of an 01 t-top?

I got a right t-top replacement that has a grey or charcoal trimming but I needed the trimming to be black.

I have another t-top that's for an older model 4th-gen that's black so I want to trade the plastic molding surrounding the locking assembly. The locking handle needs to come off but I have no idea how to pull it off, does anyone here know how to remove the handle?

It has a spring shim, like a c-clip or half washer around the handle. Pull that off with a pair of needlenose pliers or push it off with a screwdriver and the handle and lock will come out and off the assembly.
Look at it closely and you will see it.
