First off...I'm new here. I just bought a 94 formula. I love it! lol.

Now on to the problem....

My water pump went three days after I bought the car. I had it replaced and when I picked my car up from the shop it started shuddering when I slow to stop and at low rpm just sitting at a stop. I'm assuming it's the dreaded optispark. But maybe it isn't. Any ideas? I'd prefer to not have to throw upwards of 300 dollars into a car I just purchased....but I love the car and it's worth it.

By the way...here it is!



60,000 original miles and the interior looks as good as it did the day it was bought. I'm in love with this car.

how much did you pay for it? any ways trying to diagnose your problem. i have a 95 formula with 67k miles on it how bad does it "shutter"? and does the engine sound like it sputters spits or anything?

It's more of a shudder in the sense that you feel it..not so much hear it. I don't really hear anything but then again my hearing sucks.

what kind of clutch is in there?

some of the beefier cluthes (like my Textralia OZ700) do this sometimes, knows as clutch chatter.

With a failing water pump, the opti is in serious danger. Especially on the earlier optisparks that weren't vented.

Forgot to mention that it's an automatic. It seems to be shuddering less now. I still think it's the opti as that's the most likely.

maybe just some regular maitinence would help like plugs, clean the maf , fuel filter and maybe use a top end cleaner.
