Default Windshield replacement Average Costs.

Well guys i have a 97 formula that is in need of a new windshield. I have been pretty lucky and have never had to replace a windshield on any of my vehicles. I called saflite and they quoted me 257 with ttop moldings and a lifetime warranty + Taxes.

I was just wondering if this is about right or should i look some place else?

Thanks guys
Devin

Get a few more quotes. I got my windshield put in for $200 with new reveal molding. Another shop quoted me $175 but I decided to give the other place a shot since they came to my work and did it.

^^i think thats only for us in Florida..

if you cant afford the above.. then goto a junkyard and pull your own junkyard. like 50 bucks. the trim around it is hard to keep from destroying tho

This is true... Call the insurance. Does it need to be replaced because of a rock or something? Mine would have covered the windshield replacement with no issue, except the windshield was bad when I bought the car. Pre-existing conditions don't count.

you can tell them a crack from 10 years ago just happened. they'll fix it.

my friend punched his windshield.. he blamed it on a rock and rubbed a couple rocks on the side of the window. they changed it.

Thanks for the input guys. The windshield does have a rock chip that is starting to crack, but the real reason is its all scratched up from bad wiper blades from the previous owner. I didnt notice it all to much with the stock halogen headlights, but now with the hids it makes the windshield look all streaked up at night. I will call my insurance and see what they can do, but i dont believe State Farm offers free glass.

i think some insurance companys will swap it out with out u paying a deductable but that depends on what policy you have.
i had to swap a windshield in my escalade that cracked for no reason and it cost me like 200.
make shure and use a good quality company that wil stand behind there work incase it has some sort of leak.

How is the clarity of the saflite windshield? I just had a PGW windshield installed and its terrible, everythimng looks funky at night. Lights looks hazy and signs looks almost like double.
