Default 00' ls1 running bad?

my cars not running as good as it was last fall..

at lower RPM's about 1.5k if I give it a little gas, it hesitates sometimes and backfires.

and at WOT it backfires bad.

I was thinking maybe changing the plug wires (stocks are on 65kmiles)

what are some other things that might be the problem clean the MAF?

normal driving it runs fine, just when going really slow, or WOT it runs poorly.

If you have no SES light or codes....something is dirty or clogged. I'd definitely clean the MAF, thats easy and cheap. And a dirty MAF will effect WOT only and cold starts. I'd run a full can of Sea Foam through 1/4 tank of gas, then after thats run out change your fuel filter. Do the plugs (NGK TR55's for $17.00) and new wires from Advance Auto for $36.00.

But a scan with a real dealership type of OBDII scanner might tell you exactly what it is....like a failing 02 sensor(s). Which WILL NOT give you an SES light or code until things are really running shitty or one completey fails.

TO be honest start with the mechanical fixes first, throw injector cleaner afterwards to make you feel warm and fuzzy. First check the plugs and go ahead and replace them but inspect each one to see if one is bad enough to cause your issue, wires also. Start there then get back with us.
