do u have an aftermarket shifter ?? stock clutch ?? is it only at a certain rpm level ??
maybe only the shifter wasn't installed correctly ....... otherwise UR DOOMED withe this till the next gear rebuild(broken syncro)
add more detail before we jump into any conclusion??
can u reshift to 5th after its thrown out ??

actual story was that i took a buddy for a ride and ended up missing third and then drove normal, but wouldnt shift into fifth after that happened. its a stock clutch at about 92,000 miles with a hurst shifter from the factory. i normally shift up below 2000 rpm and didnt try it in a higher rpm because i didnt think it would matter. but it does feel like the shifter itself doesn't go as far as it should into fifth.

Do the rebuild. Even if you get a junk yard box, you'll have to rebuild it.
