Read that check engine light first. Need a better description of the problem. Are you thinking the transmission is slipping or is the car down on power?

I'm guessing you're hitting the pedal and you aren't shifting correctly? Is it constant, just when you nail the pedal hard? It's your tranny dude baby it and get a much life as you can before you need to replace it, there's no fix. Rebuild or get a new one.

If this isn't your problem then state what is.

If it's slipping there's no fix. Rebuild or replace. It usually slips undernhard acceleration though unless it's really giving out. But it's gone get as much use as you can.

if you suspect the maf to be culprit which it could very well be do the following.
unplug the maf sensor connection's and run the car that way. it will do not harm. if the car runs better than you found your problem. give it a try and let us know if that was the problem
