replaced bad alternator and now no charge at all!!!
so i had a bad alternator that was fluxuating the voltage and sometimes charging and sometimes not and also making horrible grinding noises when it actually was charging so I know it was bad.
well I went with a 145 truck alternator and installed it, but now I get NO fluxation in volts and it sits at 12 and I started the car and ran it for 10 minutes and it didnt have enouph juice to start back. now the other alternator actually ran for 4 days and alot of driving.
I forgot to unplug the battery and did accidently spark the wires on the back of the alternator I was taking out, I figured I blew a fuse but I checked them all and cant find any bad ones. Is there a fuse in the thick line going from the battery to the anternator? I didnt see one any help on this would be appreciated.
I have heard that the exciter wire can be a culprit but I didnt see anything wrong with it yet just want to cover all the bases

now my altenator has 2 wires comming out of the back of the screw, one from the battery, and the other comes off the alternator into a fuse that then runs behind the heat shield for the fuel lines I am not sure if that is for the raxtronix hotwire kit that was installed or not. I think between this and the TPS issue I have i may just need to put it in the shop and start having them hunt down these eletrical problems, they are a little above my expertise. I am more mechanical

well I found my REAL problem, my harmonic balencer sperated install so the outside was not spinning, this explains the grinding noise I heard before and also the sparks people said they saw come out from under my car several times and why i was losing charge under acceloration, Hopefully I didnt mess up the exciter wire and a new pulley will fix all, got a new one comming
