Catalytic converter issue
My smog date is coming up and recently i got a check engine light on my 02 ws6
I checked it and it turns out to be a passenger side catalytic.
Im thinking of installing a highflow universal catalytic converter to replace the stock faulty one. Typically they go for like $50 online... I checked my O2's as well and they are fine...
By doing that, u think the check engine light will go away? Or do i have to reset my ECU?
I need to smog the car after that too...
Oh, and the car has stock manifolds by the way.

You may have to clear the code. Once you have the new cat in place, clear the codes and the pcm should be able to see the new cat is working. I would replace both if you are going that route.

Sometimes high flow cats continue to trip the P0420/P0430 code, especially the low quality/cheap ones, so if you need to pass a scan test you may still have issues in that regard. If this happens, then you could just have the SES light toggled off for those DTCs via custom tuning, and then any cat that allows you to pass the sniff test would be fine.
