No gear. oil
So I, like many others, have a bad rear pinion seal often. The last time it was taken in my dad brought it in for me. It appears that it was not fixed, since I got a terrible whining sound out of the rear about 100 miles away from the destination of a long trip, and it kept getting worse.
The rear end makes a loud whining, screeching sound now at ANY speed. It's currently at Pep Boys (I'd do it myself if I were home), the only place open on Sunday here, getting new gear oil/LSD additive put in it, since it now sounds like there is NONE in it.
I was wondering if the rear is going to be significantly worse off from having run 100+ miles on low/no gear oil. Seems to me the answer is yes...

I find it hard to beleive you lost a lot of fluid from a pinion seal. My 2000 SS went for years with a leaking seal, and when I changed rear ends it was still almost full. My car had 60K on it and the rear was mint. Lots of track time too. I don't think you should have a problem.

Well it's screwed. Added the oil back in and it still screeches like a mother.
There was no oil in the diff at all, and there were a bunch of metal shavings that came out. And the idiots lifted the car directly on the "do not lift here" tabs. ********. Well, perhaps I will get a Moser now... anyone care to guess what damage has been done?
