Default Coolant Level Sensor?

This is the sensor directly below the radiator cap correct? My level is fine but this light has been on for about 4 months and have never bothered to address it... tired of the damn light always being on. So if i disconnect it and tape it up the light will go off? My car will run fine with it unplugged? Thanks!

Yeah, you can disconnect it and tie it off - light will go away. Car will run fine. My car doesn't have one, think GM took them off our cars in 2K?
