Default Exterior mirrors (Remove)

I need to remove my mirrors for a repaint; I removed the small plastic interior cover(small screw), I see the three nuts that have to be removed, no problem there, I can`t get to the wire connector. Do I have to take off the whole door panel to get to the wire connection? If the door panel has to come off what`s the best way without screwing anything up.Thanks for any help.

Shoot, just had both my door panels off for speaker/window motor replacement last week. I'm thinking you have to remove the panel for sure on the drivers side, can't remember the other. If they have to come off it's not hard - look at one of the window motor replacement guides out there like http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html
