i just replaced my oil pressure sensor, it went bad last night and shot oil everywhere, but i got it fixed today but the gauge is now reading between the 60 and 90(?) does that sound high?

I sit at about 55 to 60 on cold starts, around 25 at a warm idle, and around 40ish at cruising speed.... the 90 seems WAY high.

I run 10wx40 oil, warm idle is around 40psi if I remember right.

gc, fully warmed up idle around 25, once i start moving goes to 40 and if i get on it jumps around 60, so nothing to worry bout, but 90 seems kinda high...

thanks for the responses, mine has dropped back down to 40 idle 60 running... i think it was the new sensor i put on yesterday hadnt had time to warm up or something... i went back to the garage and they said nothin to worry about and on my way home it dropped back down and has been running normal

50-60 at cold start, 60 at cruise, 65 at WOT, 45 idling at normal operating temps, 35-40 sitting boiling hot in traffic. gotta love GC 0W-30. it barely ever goes under 40 unless the stop and go traffic is severe, my fans are blasting and it's 90 degrees outside. even then it's only be a millimeter.

50 at cold start.

30-35 at warm idle in gear on a warm day.

25-30 at warm idle in gear on a HOT day.

20-25 at hot idle in traffic on a HOT day with the A/C running.

40+ at anything above idle.

45-50 at most cruising rpms.

This is all with M1 10W30, stock oil pump, and stock idle rpms.

I have a friend with a 2000 ws6 and his oil pressure is always between 70 and 90 wether it is hot or cold.

my 99 vette pressure is low like 15 at hot idle and 25 in cruise, Need a new oil pump????

Possibily, or perhaps the pressure sending unit is giving a bad reading. I'd probably change the sending unit first, just to be sure. It's a lot cheaper and easier than the oil pump swap.

It's on the driver's side near the back of the intake.
