Default Found GC - going to start changing my own oil

The local Autozon has about 50 qts of the Castrol 0-30w Syntec. On the back it says, "Made in Germany". I am hoping this is what everyone is using. Can't remember the last time I changed my own oil. Cost me $25 now to pay someone, I guess I can do it myself for same - oil is $5.29/qt. Anything I should know before I start doing it myself. I guess I will use the extended filter that people use here and switch from 3000 mi changes to 5000 mi changes. Thoughts on the above?

Use the Wix 51522 oil filter (or the K&N equal), and run 6 quarts in her. You should notice an overall increase in oil pressure.

6 quarts - that's what i used with the longer filter
it's like 5 3/4 quarts or something like that with the stock sized filter

Yeah, it calls for 5 1/2 with the small filter. Use the larger one to run a shade under 6 full quarts.

If you can't find the WIX filters (I for one can't) and don't want to spend $10-$13 on a K&N....the Napa ones are substantially better than most commercial filters as well. I've heard from a few different places that WIX in fact private labels them for Napa and it's the same thing, and in my case far easier to find.

You're right. The NAPA Gold filter is private labeled for them by Wix.
