Anyone Had This Problem? (side mirrors)
Well ever since i got my car i have been very annoyed with my car the side mirrors seem to be just hanging on something. and when i looked behind them i saw that the metal things that hold the whole side mirror was broken, so is this a comon problem on firebirds? its just really annoyes me how the side mirrors are all loose and whatnot.
also if anyone knows what kind of metal it is that holds the side mirrors to the door i wuld apreciate it becouse im wondering if i can spotweld the metal but i have no idea what kind of metal it is

its cast aluminum. Good luck welding it
JB Weld likely isn't going to hold that up, you need to get a new part. Unfortunately very rarely will you see the mirror separated from the bracket, so you will probably end up buying a mirror (like I did). Check for people parting cars in the for sale section.

I just tightened mine up. Im attaching some pics of what it looked like before I tightened it. As long as the 2 "pins" that are on the back of the mirror are not stripped, you can tighten the mirror. If you look at my picture of the assembley where the mirror is off, you will see a cross shaped grey metal piece. You can pop that piece of with a flat head, or your ign key. What I did next was place that metal piece into the grooves that you see behind the mirror above the lower pin. I then used some super glue to secure the piece onto the back of the mirror, and placed two small pieces of duct tape over the glue to make sure the metal piece wouldnt come out/loose again. Let me know if you all have any questions.
