Weird idle after wash
I just spent all day washing, claying, and beginning the three step mcguire's process on my car but it got dark so I pulled into the garage for the night. I noticed that after I turned the engine over, my gauges all maxed out, returned to normal, and that my idle sounded funny - almost weak. I revved a bit and it sounded kind of wimpy.
In addition to this, I noticed some smog coming out of my tail pipes which never happens, even on cold days. What's the deal here? I'm thinking I may have gotten some water in the intake when I was cleaning the hood. What else could it be?

The gauge sweep/trip resetting is a '99 instrument cluster thing with low voltage. If the car started right up voltage probably was't low enough to cause the PCM to have to relearn idle or the smokey exhaust?????

Saying I don't know why you had the weak idle/smokey exhaust - unless the voltage was low enough it caused the PCM to reset causing the idle to have to be relearned. Don't know if the '99 gauge sweep means the PCM resets, but only time my gauges have ever done that is while loading a new tune in my car.
