Throwing P0171 Code
Recently as the weather started to get nicer my 99 T/A threw a P0171- System too lean, Bank 1. anyone know why this happens? and if theres anything i can do to try and fix it. after driving around a few days the SES light went off on its own but then when i scanned the pcm it still showed the code. any ideas?

i had the same problem in my '98 Saturn, everytime it rained or got REALLY cold out, it would do it, but the light would always go out and never come back on.
I say let it go, don't replace anything just yet, when it happens during dry weather you might want to investigate further.

Assuming your O2 sensor is working properly, and it is sensing more oxygen than it should, there are several common (I use this term loosely) areas to look at.
1.Minor intake leak on the driver's side (since bank 1 is on driver's side).
2.Exhaust system leak on driver's side at or upstream of the O2 sensor.
3.AIR system check valve on, you guessed it, the driver's side.
If your sensor is not working correctly it may well be sending a bogus 'LEAN' signal to the PCM in which case you would have to replace the sensor.
Most important thing to remember is these are my Cali-Certified Smog Tech .02 and there are many more possibilites in between what I have just mentioned. Good luck.
